Summer is just around the corner, and guess what⁉
We want to celebrate it with YOU on the 1st of June, by inviting Detroit dance music legend Theo Parrish for a 4 hour set.

Theo Parrish’s sets are described as dynamic and unique by media worldwide, and his style is seen as highly eclectic which is what makes him to be constantly booked by festivals and clubs around the globe.

We thus couldn’t believe it when he accepted to play at our venue in Stockholm!

For those who don’t know, Theo Parrish has greatly impacted the Detroit underground music scene in the 90s. Born in 1972, this respected DJ and producer, began spinning and producing tracks in 1986, at the age of thirteen. His style has of course been shaped by being raised in Chicago where Chicago’s radio influences and House artists such as Ron Hardy , Larry Heard, Lil Louis, Farley Jackmaster Funk, Gene Hunt , Mike Dunn, Frankie Knuckles , Walter Get Down Brown and Andre Hatchett, helped to spawn Mr. Parrish’s early career.

Interestingly, Parrish’s musical development was greatly influenced by his studies in Fine Art. In 1994, he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from KCAI with a concentration in Sound Sculpture, a form of orchestration using live instruments, looped recordings, the human voice, and numerous other sound generating devices.

This is where Detroit Dance Music, Art and Summery vibes all intertwine for one night at Kvarteret.

Nonetheless, the line-up would not be complete if we didn’t invite some of the best DJs in town who are all unique in their own style and sound. Polanco, Molø, Yourhighness, Petrina Hinas, Stephanie Radionova and Frangie will all be part of this unforgettable night.

MOLØ

There’s a long and respected lineage of electronic dance music artists stemming the musical hotbed that is Stockholm. Adam Beyer, Jeremy Olander, Joel Mull, Genius of Time, Studio Barnhus, Jesper Dahlbäck are just a few, and the latest and greatest to join the aforementioned big wigs on her very own quest towards chart bliss and steaming dance floors is MOLØ.

As the excitement around her artistry has intensified, she’s also embarked on her first few tour runs across Europe, warming up the floor for acts in the likes of Luciano and Sasha at festivals and clubs such as The Ark Cruise in Ibiza, Culture Box in Copenhagen and Big Burn Festival in Istanbul.

We cannot wait to hear what she has in store for us on the 1st of June.

Frangie

Frangie is a musical organism assembled and shaped in Stockholm. It’s also a musical trio consisting of Adriana Aburto Essén, Francisco Sobrado and Fredrik Stjärne. The self-titled debut album came in April 2018 and took the band out of the studio and up on stage. From Amsterdam Dance Event to Skankaloss in Gagnef’ and further to the Nobel Prize Afterparty. In May 2019, the long-awaited sequel Rice & Beans came with a more powerful disco sound, strongly rooted in modern dance music.

Theo Parrish

Introducing THEO PARRISH – One of the most progressive house producers and DJs of the late ’90s, 2000s, and 2010s.

Theo Parrish grew up in Chicago but moved to Detroit by the time of his late-1996 Baby Steps EP on 7th City subsidiary Elevate.

From the EP, his Chicago tribute “Lake Shore Drive” later appeared on the Kenny Dixon/Moodymann release “Inspirations of a Small Black Church,” and Parrish also worked on tracks by Rick Wilhite, Dewayne Davis and Norma Jean Bell.

In 1997, he established his Sound Signature label, the outlet for the majority of his prolific output, including the albums Parallel Dimensions (2000), the Rotating Assembly’s Natural Aspirations (2004), and Sound Sculptures, Vol. 1 (2007).

Also a renowned DJ, he has released several mixes on the CD-R format. In 2013, the Snowdog label sought him for Black Jazz Signature, a mix of cuts from one of the most significant independent jazz labels of the ’70s.
